5 Live Virtual Sessions. (See Details Below)

The Client Advisory Services (CAS) opportunity is a strategic shift in how CPA firms and other business advisors deliver value. As technology capabilities expand, especially with the introduction of AI, and as client expectations evolve, practices must move beyond transactional services and into holistic relationships with clients, through which the practice provides not just financial information, but also regulatory compliance, managerial governance (e.g. spend policies), risk mitigation, and financial analysis (FP&A services).

This five-part workshop provides a clear and actionable roadmap for building a scalable, profitable CAS practice. Whether you're just launching CAS services or refining your existing offerings, this course will equip you to align your service model with clients’ needs while establishing a highly interactive and modern client experience.

Overview and Learning Objectives

Each of the five live sessions is two hours long and includes structured instruction, guided discussions, and practical resources like templates, checklists, and worksheets. Each session comprises follow-up assignments and community interaction to reinforce the material.

Participants will also be invited to a live, 2-hour “booster” session a few months after the live event to revisit key concepts and address challenges that you may experience in your initial weeks deploying CAS within your practice.

  • Session 1 | Oct. 16

Session 1: The CAS Practice Framework

    October 16: 3:00-5:00 PM ET

This session introduces the operational foundation of Client Advisory Services. We will explore how the five core areas of CAS— transactional accounting, controllership, back-office process outsourcing (BPO), financial planning and advisory (FP&A) services, and fractional CFO—function as distinct service lines while working synergistically within a holistic service offering. Participants will also examine the team roles and skillsets necessary to support these services effectively.
    Session Objectives:

    • Identify the five functional areas of a CAS practice and describe the unique processes required for each.
    • Understand how CAS processes align and interact across service areas.

Session 2: The Controllership Services Model

    October 21 - 3:00-5:00 PM ET

This session focuses on three areas of CAS services: managerial compliance (i.e., governance), regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation. Participants will learn how to package and deliver these services to create high-value client relationships and, subsequently, maximize price.
    Session Objectives:

    • Discover three key controllership service categories, the nature of the work, and applicable client deliverables.
    • Identify specific compliance and risk areas addressed by controllership services.
    • Apply methods for creating scalable controllership services engagements within a CAS framework.
  • Session 3 | Oct. 23

Session 3: Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and Fractional CFO Services

    October 23 - 3:00-5:00 PM ET

In this session, participants explore the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) services model, a category of CAS that includes not only financial analytics, but also guiding clients in how to leverage analytics as actionable management advice. The discussion will focus on defining service boundaries, standardizing deliverables, and building confidence when interacting with business owners and other leaders within your clients' organizations.
    Session Objectives:

    • Distinguish between FP&A services and fractional CFO services.
    • Learn key financial metrics and operational measurements to monitor for each of your clients as part of FP&A services.
