Practice Advancement Program Pricing Strategies

Defining the right pricing model is an ever-increasing challenge as external disruptors set price expectations, commoditize bookkeeping services, and obscure the perception of our value for our clients and prospects. Woodard’s Strategic Pricing 4-week course equips accounting professionals to effectively and strategically price cyclical accounting services (CAS…aka, Bookkeeping Services), income tax preparation, and advisory services through proven pricing strategies and service structures.

  • Week 1: Value Pricing Foundations
  • Week 2: Creating an Ideal Client Profile and Revenue Model, and Vetting Clients and Prospects
  • Week 3: Designing Service Structures that Maximize Client Value...and Price
  • Week 4: Pricing the Engagement and Getting Client Buy In
  • Bonus Segment: Protecting Your Practice from Scope Creep and Write Downs/Write Offs
Practice Advancement Program Productivity Strategies: Discovering, Overcoming, and Establishing

In this course, you'll discover how to cultivate a "Mind Like Water" mindset, overcome common productivity roadblocks, and implement practical systems to conquer inbox overload and daily chaos — across email, Slack, Teams, voicemail, and every other channel competing for your attention. Through a blend of mindset shifts, proven frameworks, and hands-on exercises, you'll design sustainable workflows and habit-building behaviors, moving from reactive firefighting toward calm, intentional control over your day.

Over four sessions, you will:

  • Build the mental foundations for sustainable productivity

  • Learn to recognize and dismantle the myths and psychological roadblocks that hold you back

  • Design a Zero Inbox system that brings every inbound channel under control

  • Develop the habits and daily routines that make focus and prioritization second nature.

You'll leave with strategies and confidence to maintain an organized, intentional workday, and the tools to keep what matters most front and center — long after the course ends.

Practice Advancement Program Productivity Strategies: Capturing, Prioritizing, and Engaging

In this course, participants design, build, and learn to sustain a personalized productivity system grounded in proven frameworks — with Getting Things Done (GTD) serving as a cornerstone, alongside habit-formation principles like those from Atomic Habits. The course focuses on:

  • Transforming inputs into actionable workflows

  • Engineering a trusted task management system

  • Strengthening prioritization skills and cultivating sustainable habits for long-term success — moving participants from scattered effort toward focused, intentional execution.

Through practical exercises and reflective planning, you'll build an external system that captures and processes every commitment, clarify your priorities against your personal and professional goals, and develop the self-reinforcing habits and routines that turn productivity into a lifestyle rather than a one-time fix. You'll leave with a functioning, personalized productivity framework — one built to support focused execution, promote consistency, and adapt with you as your context, projects, and priorities evolve.

Practice Advancement Program Productivity Strategies: Sustaining, Expanding and Leading

Productivity systems tend to break under exactly the conditions that matter most — disruption, delegation, and scale. This course is built for that stress test, extending your personal system to withstand the moments when things go sideways, support a team beyond just yourself, and operate at a leadership level rather than an individual one.

You'll design a Reset Protocol that shortens recovery time when a week or season goes off the rails, and learn to extend your workflows so they interface cleanly with other people's systems without losing their reliability. You'll also align your system to your own natural working strengths — and learn to manage productively across the differences in how others work — before scaling the whole approach up to an annual, leadership-level plan that connects daily execution to long-term goals.

Practice Advancement Program Productivity: Building A Trusted System - Execution Workshop

Most professionals know how to collect information. Far fewer have a trusted system for deciding what matters, organizing commitments, executing focused work, and sustaining productivity over time.

In this small group workshop, you’ll build a personalized productivity framework for managing projects and tasks, connecting your daily work to larger goals, and making more intentional decisions about where to focus your time and attention. You’ll evaluate your current system, identify gaps and productivity leaks, and create an approach for organizing projects, next actions, priorities, and responsibilities.

You’ll also explore strategies for protecting focused work, reducing distractions and context switching, and working with your natural energy and peak performance periods. Finally, you’ll develop the habits, routines, and Weekly Review process needed to keep your system working as priorities and responsibilities change. You’ll leave with a practical 90-day plan for putting your system into practice and continuously improving it over time.

Practice Advancement Program Productivity: Zero Inbox - Execution Workshop

The first step to any productivity model is creating the physical and mental space in which to work.

In this small group workshop, you’ll assess what is consuming your attention, identify the digital “open loops” competing for your mental real estate, and begin changing your relationship with your inbox. From there, you’ll build a practical system for organizing and processing incoming information, using folders, rules, automations, and the 4-Ds to work toward and maintain Zero Inbox.

You’ll also explore task management systems, integrations, calendars, and other technology that can support your workflow. Throughout the workshop, the focus is not simply on cleaning up your inbox, but on building sustainable habits and systems that reduce mental clutter, increase your capacity, and help you achieve “Mind Like Water.”

Practice Advancement Program Marketing Strategies - Part 1

Marketing can feel scattered when you're wearing every hat in the firm — this course turns that scattered effort into a clear, workable strategy. Working from the outside in, you'll make deliberate choices about whom you serve, what you say, how you earn trust, and how you show up online, so the limited time you have for marketing produces real opportunities instead of getting lost in the noise.

Over five sessions, you'll move from constraint to clarity: defining a strategy that fits a small firm's real limitations, identifying the clients you're genuinely best suited to serve, and shaping messaging that speaks to them rather than about you. From there, you'll build a system for earning trust and authority over time, and translate all of it into the concrete places clients actually look — your website, your Google presence, and your social profiles. Each session pairs practical frameworks with hands-on work, so you leave not just with ideas but with strategy documents, messaging, and content you can put to use right away.

Practice Advancement Program Marketing Strategies - Part 2

Once you have the foundations from Part 1 in place, this course takes your marketing from tactical to strategic — building the advanced, long-term systems that turn a firm with a plan into a firm that grows predictably. You'll shift from simply generating leads to understanding what actually drives growth: how prospects find you, how they move from stranger to client, and how you become known as the trusted expert in your space.

Over four sessions, you'll build out a full growth engine — attracting the right leads, nurturing them with a system rather than guesswork, and putting numbers behind your marketing so you know what's actually working and worth doubling down on. You'll also build the reputation infrastructure that compounds over time: reviews, content, and a clear plan for the topics you want to own. By the end, you'll walk away with a 90-day action plan and the tools to build a marketing engine that keeps working long after the course ends — your next step toward mastering the art of professional practice growth.

Practice Advancement Program Marketing Referral Strategies

Stop begging for referrals and learn the steps you need to take to build trust and position yourself as a referable business advisor in this one-day course.

Attendees will receive actionable worksheets to develop their own referral plans, ensuring they capture practical ideas and leave with a concrete strategy ready for implementation. Position yourself as the go-to advisor and make referrals a cornerstone of your business growth.

Practice Advancement Program Management and Leadership Strategies - Part 1

Management is the measurement of people and process, while leadership is the development of people and process. Whether you’re a team of one or many, both management and leadership skills are critical to the success of your practice.

This course will enable you to form effective teams, enhance employee performance, clearly define roles and responsibilities, foster accountability, and build a distinctive company culture.

Practice Advancement Program Management and Leadership Strategies - Part 2

Management is the measurement of people and process, while leadership is the development of people and process. Whether you're a team of one or many, both are critical to the success of your practice.

This course is about measuring and directing your organization. You'll set goals for your practice, define the measurements that tell you whether you're reaching them, and establish the review cycles that hold your team accountable to them. You'll learn how to structure team meetings, so they produce decisions, and how to use SWOT and SOAR analysis to define and measure your organization's prioritized aspirations.

Practice Advancement Program Conference Attendee Strategies: Creating a Comprehensive Playbook

Make the most of your next conference by organizing every detail—from travel logistics and session notes to networking contacts and post-event follow-ups—in one streamlined, accessible space. In this session, you'll learn how to leverage the power of Microsoft OneNote to consolidate your planning, capture ideas in real time, and execute next steps with clarity and purpose.

This class introduces a structure that helps you capture, prioritize, and act on what matters most—before, during, and after the event. With everything organized in advance, you’ll arrive prepared and return empowered, ready to turn ideas into impact without missing a beat.

Set yourself up for success with a clear mind and a clear plan.

Practice Advancement Program Transition Strategies: Building and Executing Your Strategy

Transition Strategies: Building and Executing Your Strategy is the execution course. Where our other Transition courses built the foundation, this course turns it into a plan: addressing the obstacles that derail even well-prepared transitions, walking through what an optimized sale process looks like from first conversation to signed letter of intent (LOI), and closing the series with the highest-stakes stretch of the entire process: protecting the deal and the people around it between LOI and closing.

This course is for practice owners who have done the work and are ready to act.

Practice Advancement Program Transition Strategies: Getting Your Practice Ready

Transition Strategies: Getting Your Practice Ready moves from understanding to action. This course puts the frameworks you learned in Transition Strategies: Understand the Transition Landscape to work assessing financial and operational readiness, addressing the cultural and strategic dimensions of a transferable practice, understanding the tax, legal, and deal structure decisions that shape a sale, and defining the ideal buyer for your situation. Participants leave with a written readiness assessment and a clear picture of the buyer they are building toward.

Practice Advancement Program Transition Strategies: Preparing Yourself for Exit Transition

Transition Strategies: Preparing Yourself for Exit Transition turns the lens from the practice to the owner.

Where the other Transitions course examined what makes a practice valuable and transferable, the course examines what the owner needs from a sale to achieve financial freedom, who the owner is once the practice is no longer the answer to that question, what continues in the business after they are gone, and whether they are genuinely ready to exit.

This course is for owners who come in with prior knowledge and are ready to work at the personal, applied level.

Practice Advancement Program Transition Strategies: Understanding the Transition Landscape

Transition Strategies: Understanding the Transition Landscape builds the foundation every practice owner needs before any planning work can begin.

Most owners arrive with a vague sense that something needs to happen with their practice eventually. This course replaces that vagueness with clarity: clear definitions, a grounded understanding of what their practice is worth and why, the frameworks a buyer would use to evaluate it, and an honest first assessment of where they stand.

By the end of Part One, participants have
the vocabulary, the valuation picture, the transferable value framework, and a first-draft People Map that will anchor everything that follows.

Practice Advancement Program Transition Strategies: Practice Readiness Execution Workshop

Selling a business is more than just finding a buyer—it requires careful preparation to maximize value and ensure a smooth transition. This workshop helps business owners evaluate their readiness for sale by identifying key areas to strengthen and increase business value..

Practice Advancement Program Transition Strategies: Buyer Profile Execution Workshop

Whether you’re preparing for an immediate sale or future exit, you’d like to find a buyer who meets all your needs—but in reality, compromises are often required. This workshop guides participants through understanding buyer motivations and aligning practice fit, identifying negotiable deal terms and red flags, and developing key buyer profiles. Participants will explore real-world and digital avenues for locating buyers, define ideal timelines, and refine buyer profiles to align potential buyers with your succession goals.

Services Expansion Courses

Woodard’s Service Expansion courses provide you with the skills, process, and confidence to elevate the impact you have with your clients and the value of your client relationships. Through an elevated slate of services, you will command higher prices, differentiate your practice, and give your practice a competitive advantage.   That said, the ultimate goal (and measurement) of client advisory is the generation of wealth for your clients. Through your advisory services, your clients can discover ways to streamline costs, reduce expenses and better manage their companies.

Keystone Course

Services Expansion Program Foundations of Client Advisory: Discovery and Design Services

THIS IS A TWO-PART COURSE

This course lays out the fundamental components of a successful advisory engagement. Learn to advise business owners on how to operate their business from discovering their pressing issues, goals, and priorities, through the planning and execution of a strategic plan. Take the mystery out of advisory, build your confidence, and guide your clients to success.

This course will move you beyond the transactional bookkeeping role and into the role of a highly valued resource for your client.

Services Expansion Program Foundations of Advisory: Plan Execution and Client Engagement

Turning a strategic plan into an actual engagement is where a lot of advisory work quietly stalls out — this course is built to close that gap. You'll work through the decisions that come before you ever present anything: whether the opportunity is worth taking, how to scope it so it doesn't quietly expand on you, and how to price it in a way that matches the value it delivers. Then you'll step into the room where it counts — presenting your findings clearly, reading how the client is responding, and actually asking for the work.

Once the engagement is signed, the course turns to leading it well: running meetings that get the client talking instead of just listening, building real accountability, and knowing when to reorder, rescope, or walk away as priorities change. You'll also take a hard look at who your practice is genuinely positioned to serve and what clients are actually paying you for. By the end, you'll have concrete tools for structuring and running engagements, plus a ninety-day plan for putting it all to work.

Controllership Services

Services Expansion Program Spend Management Services: G&A Assessments

Spend Management Services, a component of Controllership Services, are strategic in nature. The goal of the Spend Management Services provider is to optimize the company’s management of costs and expenses as both an analytical process (expense and cost analyses) and as a preventive measure (e.g. budgets and spending policies). Though the Spend Management Services provider does analyze past spend, the work is largely preventative in nature.

Unlike spend automation and spend capture (which are focused more on technology and process), the Spend Management Services provider focuses on reducing costs and expenses and mitigating cost/expense overruns. To effectively monitor and control costs/expenses, companies need some combination of budgeting, purchasing policies and procedures, and travel expense policies. Spend Management Services providers work with their clients to create, curate, and enforce these areas of managerial compliance.

Services Expansion Program Spend Management Services: Employee Spend

Spend Management Services, part of Controllership Services, focus on proactively controlling costs through budgeting, policies, and strategic oversight. Unlike automation tools, they emphasize analysis and over-spend prevention. This four-week course explores effective strategies for managing employee spend and travel expenses, including best practices in cost control, expense reporting, technology use, and policy compliance.

Services Expansion Program Spend Management Services: Operating Budgets

This course provides a structured and practical examination of operating budgets as a central discipline within the controllership function.

Operating budgets are a spend management and governance tool, controlling spend at the job, project, or departmental level. Note: Woodard’s CAS model considers financial budgets and forecasts to be a function of FP&A Services.

Designed for early-career and experienced accounting professionals alike, the course bridges foundational budgeting concepts with modern practices in financial governance, operational planning, and policy-based expenditure control. We will explore how budgets support strategic decision-making, how to construct and maintain policy-aligned budgets, and how to use budget data to identify variances, mitigate risks, and mitigate cost and expense overruns.

Services Expansion Program Spend Management Services: Purchasing and Procurement

This course, within our Spend Management Services courseware, explores the policies, procedures, and monitoring practices that govern purchasing and procurement activities within client organizations. Purchasing and procurement controls are uniquely powerful because they operate before the transaction occurs, preventing unauthorized commitments and cost overruns before money is spent.

You will learn how to design and document purchasing policies, implement procurement workflows, and monitor ongoing compliance with those policies. The course addresses both internal risks (employee fraud and embezzlement) and external risks (phishing schemes, invoice fraud, and vendor manipulation) that purchasing controls are designed to mitigate.

Financial Planning & Analysis Services

Services Expansion Program Financial Planning and Analysis - Foundations

This course encourages thoughtful evaluation of where a practice stands today in its financial planning and analysis work, and what changes are needed to build this into a focused, high-value service line.

As participants work through the foundational elements of FP&A — planning, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and modeling — they will gain clarity around how to deliver forward-looking guidance, the value that guidance creates for clients, and the clients they are best equipped to serve it to.

By the end of the course, participants will have a stronger sense of how FP&A fits into their practice and a practical framework for offering it with confidence. This is where the journey toward building an FP&A practice begins.
